The Deep Woods Camp Difference

DEEP WOODS offers a summer with strong emphasis on activities in the outdoors--particularly in the woods and on the rivers of our mountain region. Our campers spend most of their session away from the camp itself. In fact, about half the nights of a session will be out on the trail, or on a canoe overnight.

Our main program activity is hiking and backpacking. We strive, also, to provide as active a whitewater canoeing program as time and weather allow. Rock Climbing is our third area of activity emphasis. We also have a Mountain Bicycle program of trail riding.

Each camper goes on every trip with his cabin group, and each cabin group has its own program of activities for the session. This allows each cabin's summer to be designed to challenge every boy.

DEEP WOODS provides an "out of camp" summer of activities. We do have a few in-camp activities to round out our program, though these are mainly evening games. Camp lake provides a place for canoe instruction and swimming. Our dining hall also serves as an indoor recreation area. The range of evening programs is limited only by the imagination, and includes such games as soccer, softball, capture the flag, pushball, and swamp.

Some days find DEEP WOODS boys tubing a fast river, sliding a waterfall with lightning speed, or following a watery trail down the middle of a wilderness. Adventure is where you find it, and DEEP WOODS boys will be out looking.
